Three members of law enforcement lost their lives and no fewer than 15 others got wounded in what appears to be deliberate detonation from gas at a farmhouse in the northern part of Italy.

Sequence of Events

The blast was triggered as officers and emergency crews entered the house in the vicinity of the Verona region to carry out an removal notice for three siblings who were older adults.

The three victims who died belonged to the Carabinieri force.

Legal Proceedings

One male and one female got detained at the location and a third person who fled following the explosion was apprehended not long after. The trio have been transported to hospital.

“We all knew the situation was dire,” nearby inhabitants told reporters, noting that the family members had earlier warned to “blow themselves up” rather than vacate the property.

The Defense Minister Guido Crosetto joined other government officials in paying tribute to the trio of personnel who had died in the line of duty.
