It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a team that has achieved everything.

It needed as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batsmen to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a platform to create her newest gem.

Originally famous as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Some will argue the argument supporting championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in training, it's been a challenging time because I feel like my form was missing completely," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit activate and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and after that the batsman was in motion.

"The possibility to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was out the team required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the assurance to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we know we can do it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this tournament want to hear.

In recent days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this success coming after victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wished she had played despite the injury.

But while she later admitted those physical issues have delayed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is expected to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as captain.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
