Assassin's Creed Introduces Surprising AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a surprising crossover event that breaks usual expectations, the game developer has unveiled an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, including free extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Disclosed
According to the formal release, "A mysterious meeting pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where whispers of prohibited ceremonies and fearsome transformations reverberate through the obscurity." The storyline presents a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a clandestine group.
The questline focuses on "strange trials and a terrifying enemy" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Transformations
The teaser showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser finishes with a powerful scene showing a character, probably the captive, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Extra Content
Players who accomplish the quest will obtain an unique katana together with several objects secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Update
This release also adds the game's latest complimentary story content, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive skills: Naoe introduces a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime series. The series previously showcased a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally contained a quest that clearly nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
